Protest (Reformation Day 2021)
This Reformation Day 2021 sermon from Cornerstone Community Church is titled “Protest.”
Does anyone know what today is? It’s a day that is very significant to all of us sitting in our comfortable chairs this morning.
On October 31, 1517 (the eve of All-Saints’ Day) at high noon, Martin Luther nailed his 95 theses to the door of the Castle Church at Wittenberg. That touched off the Reformation, the largest religious movement in history.
What can we say? Well we are here today, in this church, because of the Reformation. For you see, that day was the birth of the Protestant Movement.
And in that movement, the world heard the cries that bore the:
- Lutheran Church
- Episcopalian Church
- Baptist Church
- Methodist Church
- Nazarene Church
- Pentecostal Church
- Presbyterian Church
Yes, our churches were born in protest.
